First, the important questions :)
Heels or flats?
Heels! All my friends are tall so I always feel like a shrimp without them.
Sushi or Charcuterie?
Kids or Cats?
Flowers or Chocolates?
Money or Power?
What is your name and what do you do?
My name is Juliette Brindak… actually, now Juliette Blake! I just got married. I’m the co-founder of Miss O & Friends, which is a safe socialization site for tween & young teen girls, which aims to help build self-esteem.
When do you feel the most “in flow”?
When I’m working out, cooking or taking a walk with my headphones in.
What has starting your own company taught you about your own emotions and personality?
A LOT! I’m a very emotional person, which I’ve always known about myself, but I have learned new things that I’m sensitive to or upset me more than I may have thought. I think over the years I have also become more cynical, and have learned the way not always trust what you hear. The “perfectionist” in me has also come out, and the need to be organized and on top of things.
What is the hardest thing you have ever gone through?
Oof- tough question because there have been a lot of really hard things. But I think the overall theme is: being so close to a huge success and then it doesn’t happen and there is nothing I can do about it.
How do you handle and overcome tough emotions, like anxiety, fear, and frustration in your life? What keeps you going?
I cry. It really does make me feel better. And I also workout- spinning, running. barre, yoga. A workout always makes me feel a lot better and totally clears my head. It also helps for me to talk it out- with my parents or my husband who usually see the situation differently than me. The new perspective and point of view helps for me to put everything into perspective and takes me back to why I do what I do: to help young girls.
Where is the resistance in your life, and how can you overcome it to say Yes more often?
Sometimes I’m too hard on myself, or I need everything to be perfect and the way I want it. Well… life doesn’t work like that, I’m working on letting go of all the structure, and instead, seeing how things play out.
What does it mean to you when we say that “looking good has nothing to do with how you look”?
So true! You’ll never “look good” unless you “look good” inside- your mind, body and spirit have to be happy and content… and you have to be happy and content with yourself and JUST yourself. And once you are beautiful to yourself, you’ll be beautiful to everyone else.
What’s the best advice anyone ever gave you?
“Just put it out to the universe and it might give you what you’re asking for."
Disclaimer: I literally just got married on Saturday August 6 and I learned there were a lot of things that we totally out of my control… weather being the biggest, amongst many others. So this is a little “wedding colored glasses” tinted, if you know what I mean J I really had to relax and just let it all be… and I’m so happy I did because it was the most incredible day of my life.
